I consider myself very much a populist. But the way to be a populist is not to get into the Bernie Sanders game of giving away free stuff.

My view of the socialism debate:

1. I have no confidence whatsoever in the conservative case for their preferred version of capitalism. I don’t believe the GOP is going to raise living standards and build a modern infrastructure. I see rich people getting richer and the average American standard of living declining.

2. I don’t care what FOX Geezers who still mentally live in the Cold War think about socialism. The world has changed. There is no question in my mind that socialist China has done a better job at raising living standards, building a modern economy and infrastructure over the past thirty years.

3. The challenge posed by socialist China is far more potent than the Soviet Union. China is running laps around the United States and the “capitalist” side is losing badly.
