Col Wiegand, a Stasi officer referenced East Germany also had a large non White contingent. I think the figures were about 2.5-3%. The Continental Army were regular troops under Continental National command. Then there were the State Armies, aka the militias. You left them out. The were equal in number to the Continentals and perhaps even larger as categorizing them outside of the State Armies becomes complicated.
So, the Americans were equal in numbers to the whole French force, Navy and Marines included, and were actually larger on the Army side. But lets be honest it was the French Navy and Marines which made defeat of the British almost certain.

The British and their descendents the Americans didn’t take the continent by conquest. It took it by settlement. Had the British Americans followed the Papist script, yes they could’ve taken control over much of it far earlier. But it would be a shallow and uneasy control. Just like in Mexico.

Yeah but it wasn’t easier to do it for the British Americans. The American Indians were mostly asshole brutalists. They didn’t submit easily and certainly didn’t submit to reservation easily. They wanted domination over not just the British Americans but other Indians.
Except for their large Confederacies with territories, Indian socio economic life was a maelstrom of violence and turbulence. They knew how to exploit European rivalries and did so with gusto. The East Coast Indians were so adapt at it that the only way we actually overcame them was we pretty much killed them, over, and over, and over and over again. More so, they ended up killing each other over, and over, and over and over again. That and the biggest killer, disease is the only reason British Americans made it past the Appalachia Mountains.
Among Hunter and mines family, we share a common ancestor which btw, fought and suffered much making this happen. It took our families nearly 75 to 90 years to get past a beach head on the Chesapeake to go inland in what now can be done by car in an hour or two. Then came the Appalachian mountains. It took another 75 years to clear that. Our side decided to bypass that brutal mountain settler Indian warfare and skirt it going south. Less fighting but still enough.
One of our ancestors is noted for having had her husband killed and her two eldest sons. Her daughter and a young boy where all that was left. She was brutalized by the Indians. Told her children to be firm and pray to to God for redemption and said it with a fervor that could crack a window.
It took a few years of searching before they were found. One of their fellow female captives, who was a relative couldn’t take the horror anymore and leapt from a cliff, a story that likely was taken by John Fennimore Coopers Last of the Mohicans and shown on film.
Eventually, a rescue party of British American rangers aka “long rifelmen” (the Indians had a name for them I can’t remember anymore) caught up with the Indians and in raid killed some of the warriors, scattered most of the reserves, and saved the poor woman from being scalped and murdered at the last second.

After the Civil War and the modern Yankee had conquered the South, ultimately using immigrant Catholic Irish and Germans to do it, the South pushed them out and established what they called Redeemer or Redemption governments.
It was so ingrained that even after the stories faded, centuries later John Ford as director could make a Western epic based on its reality of surviving frontier American Indian culture. He chose John Wayne as the main actor and the movie was “The Searchers.” As a northern Mexican your family had similar experiences and can appreciate it. You should watch it and remember it’s stories are based on realities and the first story to talk about it happened centuries ago, on the East Coast and was about Hunter’s granddam.
