Europe is Dead, Say Conservatives

German Chancellor Angela Merkel: Multiculturalism has failed.

I just want to quietly suggest that perhaps, just perhaps, we have been over-sold on the idea of “Europe as lost” by American mainstream conservatives when the Germans….the GERMANS…are shedding their guilt and saying things in the open that not even the most conservative Republican in the safest seat in the nation can say without being toast within 24 hours.

Germany’s attempts to create a multi-cultural society in which people from various cultural backgrounds live together peacefully have failed, Chancellor Angela Merkel said Saturday.

“Multikulti”, the concept that “we are now living side by side and are happy about it,” does not work, Merkel told a meeting of younger members of her conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party at Potsdam near Berlin.

“This approach has failed, totally,” she said.

Merkel spoke a week after talks with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in which they pledged to do more to improve the often poor integration record of Germany’s 2.5-million-strong Turkish community.

Horst Seehofer, the leader of the CDU’s Bavarian sister party, CSU, told the same party meeting Friday that the two Union parties were “committed to a dominant German culture and opposed to a multicultural one.

“‘Multikulti’ is dead,” he said.

While warning against “immigration that weighs down on our social system”, Merkel said that Germany needed specialists from overseas to keep the pace of its economic development.

According to the head of the German chamber of commerce and industry, Hans Heinrich Driftmann, Germany is in urgent need of about 400,000 engineers and qualified workers.

“The lack is causing a loss of growth of about one percent,” he said in an interview.

Jewish leaders in Germany meanwhile warned that German society and democracy were under threat from extremists.

A recent expert study should prompt the government to act against antidemocratic ideas, the secretary general of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, Stephan Kramer, told the Rheinpfalz am Sonntag weekly.

The study, by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation think tank, showed that more than one third (34.3 percent) of those surveyed believed Germany’s 16 million immigrants or people with foreign origins came to the country for the social benefits.

Around the same number (35.6 percent) think Germany is being “over-run by foreigners” and more than one in 10 called for a “Fuehrer” to run the country “with a strong hand”.

Thirty-two percent of people said they agreed with the statement: “Foreigners should be sent home when jobs are scarce.”

Far-right attitudes are found not only at the extremes of German society, but “to a worrying degree at the centre of society,” the report noted.

More than half (58.4 percent) of the 2,411 people polled thought the around four million Muslims in Germany should have their religious practices “significantly curbed.”

  1. Here is the BNP’s take on this situation:

“German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s comment that multiculturalism in Germany has “utterly failed” has once again highlighted the dangerous ignorance of the “adapt or integrate” mentality which pervades civic nationalist thinking.

Ms Merkel’s remarks, made to a meeting of her Christian Democrats Union (CDU) party, were widely misinterpreted by the controlled media as some type of “anti-immigration” outburst.

In reality, it is nothing of the sort. Ms Merkel’s comments are actually is a call for even greater integration of immigrants from the Third World, not less.

Ms Merkel has in essence endorsed the “become like us and do not form separate societies” philosophy, which is prevalent in Britain in UKIP and other civic nationalist circles.

This belief, that Third World immigrants can “become” German (or “British”) simply by learning the language and not forming separate cultural ghettoes inside European countries, is of course as much of a disaster as the “multi-cultural” approach, and just as deadly.

Both approaches fail to account for the reality that all ethnicities are linked to a specific people, and cannot be “transplanted” like clothes or language by checking through an airport terminal.

It is for example, the uniqueness of the British people, their originating population and their ancestry going back tens of thousands of years which make the people of these islands unique.

In the same way, it is the ancestry, heritage and history of the German people which make them unique. Any attempts to deny this uniqueness by pretending that Third World immigrants can “become” British or German just by learning a language and dressing in a bowler hat or lederhosen, is nonsense, born out of ignorance or maliciousness.

To explain this in a simple way:

    – Would an African who learned Mandarin and dressed in Oriental clothes become Chinese?

    – Would an Englishman who learned Ngaanyatjarra and who dressed in animal skins become an Australian Aborigine?

    – Would a Chinese person who learned Yoruba and dressed in African garb become a Nigerian?

    – Would an African who learned Iroquoian and dressed in deerskin and wore a feather hat become a North American Indian?

The answer to all these questions is a resounding no, and only an idiot would even contemplate otherwise.

Yet, the very same people who would deride any of the concepts outlined above, would have the rest of the world believe that Africans, Asians, Chinese and all manner of Third Worlders can suddenly “become” European simply by learning the language and dressing like Europeans.

It is this civic nationalist ideology, also known as “cultural nationalism,” which is far more insidious and dangerous to the existence of the native people of Europe than even the obviously failed “multiculturalism” to which Ms Merkel referred.

“Multiculturalism” implied the creation of a society in which each culture was allowed to flourish and exist, supposedly “side-by-side,” so that the benefits of diversity” would be enjoyed by all.

Multiculturalism, and its twin ideology of “cultural nationalism” ignores the demographic reality of a higher Third world immigrant birth rate. This will inevitably lead to the overwhelming and destruction of the native peoples of Europe, irrelevant of the language and dress of the conquerors.

The fake “multiculturalism” and “cultural nationalism” ideologies, both rooted in civic nationalism, are the collective death knell of our people.”

Remember that Thatcher made anti-immigration statements in her campaign for PM and then did nothing to reduce immigration when in office. Ministers and leading MP’s in the Blair regime made statements about needing to assimilate immigrants better and reduce fraudulent refugees and illegals just about every month after the 2001 riots but never actually did anything. Politicians in Europe have a track record of making statements about immigration that are significantly more negative than anything you will here from top pols. in the US. It’s just posturing, don’t get too excited or think of these kinds of statements as “breakthroughs” the way they could be in the USA, where the official discourse on immigration is relentlessly positive. The previous German PM made similar statements. Merkel has been in office for how many years and she is just noticing that Muslim aren’t assimilating now? Please.

  2. As others have noted here and on other blogs, this is simple posturing on Merkel’s part. Most likely she’s trying to ride Sarrazin’s coat-tails following his popular statements and book.

But nonetheless, Sarrazin’s popularity highlights the fact that attitudes toward immigration are changing in Germany. We are indeed living in interesting times. Or at least, the Europeans are right now. Americans, while loud on the matter, still need to take more steps. Halting amnesty attempts are good, but not enough.

  3. Politicians are the last and least important link in the chain.

There used to be elected WN politicians – tens of thousands of them all over the western world. Cultural marxists sneaked into the schools and the media and changed the values of the children so that when they grew up they wouldn’t vote for politicians like that any more. Those WN politicians gradually lost power and new politians arose who conformed to the values of the changed generation.

This process has been repeated with each generation of children since being brain-washed to be slightly more left-liberal and self-hating than the previous generation.

They changed the foundations and the politicians changed automatically to fit. If we can change the foundations back to where they were and keep them there then the politicians will automatically follow.

It was Theo Sarrazin who made Merkel say what she said because he (and people like him) have been working to change the foundations she was standing on.

Don’t look to politicians, look to change the ground they need to stand on to get elected.
