I just want to quietly suggest that perhaps, just perhaps, we have been over-sold on the idea of “Europe as lost” by American mainstream conservatives when the Germans….the GERMANS…are shedding their guilt and saying things in the open that not even the most conservative Republican in the safest seat in the nation can say without being toast within 24 hours.
Germany’s attempts to create a multi-cultural society in which people from various cultural backgrounds live together peacefully have failed, Chancellor Angela Merkel said Saturday.
“Multikulti”, the concept that “we are now living side by side and are happy about it,” does not work, Merkel told a meeting of younger members of her conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party at Potsdam near Berlin.
“This approach has failed, totally,” she said.
Merkel spoke a week after talks with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in which they pledged to do more to improve the often poor integration record of Germany’s 2.5-million-strong Turkish community.
Horst Seehofer, the leader of the CDU’s Bavarian sister party, CSU, told the same party meeting Friday that the two Union parties were “committed to a dominant German culture and opposed to a multicultural one.
“‘Multikulti’ is dead,” he said.
While warning against “immigration that weighs down on our social system”, Merkel said that Germany needed specialists from overseas to keep the pace of its economic development.
According to the head of the German chamber of commerce and industry, Hans Heinrich Driftmann, Germany is in urgent need of about 400,000 engineers and qualified workers.
“The lack is causing a loss of growth of about one percent,” he said in an interview.
Jewish leaders in Germany meanwhile warned that German society and democracy were under threat from extremists.
A recent expert study should prompt the government to act against antidemocratic ideas, the secretary general of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, Stephan Kramer, told the Rheinpfalz am Sonntag weekly.
The study, by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation think tank, showed that more than one third (34.3 percent) of those surveyed believed Germany’s 16 million immigrants or people with foreign origins came to the country for the social benefits.
Around the same number (35.6 percent) think Germany is being “over-run by foreigners” and more than one in 10 called for a “Fuehrer” to run the country “with a strong hand”.
Thirty-two percent of people said they agreed with the statement: “Foreigners should be sent home when jobs are scarce.”
Far-right attitudes are found not only at the extremes of German society, but “to a worrying degree at the centre of society,” the report noted.
More than half (58.4 percent) of the 2,411 people polled thought the around four million Muslims in Germany should have their religious practices “significantly curbed.”

This is good news. The Germans and Europeans in general have a propaganda advantage that White Americans do not have, however. It’s easy to argue Germany for Germans, Poland for Poles, and so on, and very difficult, on the other hand, for our enemies to argue against that position without exposing their agenda. It is impossible to sustain an argument that Turks have a fundamental right to live in Germany, not without looking like a fool. America, however, has an immigrant history, so an appeal based on ethnicity won’t work here.
Who cares that America has an immigrant history? It also has a history of restricting non-white immigration. Saying that “such and such an argument won’t sell” is weakness. The world is not a bunch of intellectuals who require some imaginary intellectual consistency all the time. The world is full of people with visceral interests.
I’m not saying to be more extreme than your audience, but always be ready to push farther, if your audience is ready to be pushed farther. Don’t make yourself a social outcast, but don’t look at your fellow man as intellectual creatures. Look at them as biological beings with gut level interests. Draw garish word-pictures for them — for example, ask them if they’d rather the white girls in town hooked up with negroes or with the local white boys. When they admit they’d rather see same race relationships, then spring on them, “then by the politically correct definition, you’re a racist, but that’s OK. Racist is normal, don’t you agree? It’s the people who say that race-mixing is A-OK, they are the freaks . . . hell, they are outright criminals, because just look at the results of race-mixing — death and destruction of white people. Are you in favor of that? You see it — do you like it? Yecch!”
To hell with intellectualism. Appeal to the gut level, and push as hard as you can without losing your audience.
Whose Europe is dead yet? The Serbs don’t seem very dead yet. The Cossacks appeared dead in 1945, now they appear alive and killing. Even the English and Dutch show tiny sparks of resuscitation here and there.

LEW, I use the preamble of the constitution where it says “secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity”. Of course, you have explain what posterity means and how all the founders are white. Also, old photographs, many of which are now digitized on the internet, show the utter normality of white homogeneity all throughout America. Of course, you can start to see the gradual change towards “diversity” once you get past 1965.

Immigrants are of course immigrants. We call them the “Huddled Masses” and the “Wretched Refuse”.
My forefathers were on the Mayflower. Others fought the War for Independence. I am an American in every sense. Those whites that came here after ’76 can only be “American” in one of two ways:
1. As a result of a legal technicality (i.e., what was once somewhat accurately called “nationality” but which term has no real meaning today as a legalism) or
2. As “adopted” Americans who owe their allegiance to the original Americans, i.e., the Pilgrim Fathers and the Spirit of ’76, moreso even than the blood offspring of those men.
This is what pisses me off about the Goose Stepping Cheese Heads of the midwest. They were never Americans in the first place, merely transplanted Germans who wanted a better deal than der fatherland could give them. No matter how many majik spells one incants (“oath of naturalization”) or pixie dust one sprinkles (“Ellis Island”), it is not possible to transmogrify oafish peasants into English freemen without the same multigenerational effort that did it the first time, starting at Runnymead and ending at Yorktown.

I agree with LEW here. The difference is that ‘American’ is NOT an ethnicity, while German, Italian, Irish, Polish, etc IS. I interpreted him as meaning the argument ‘America is for Americans’ will simply not be as EFFECTIVE here as ‘Germany is for Germans’ is in Germany, not that the argument is invalid. It has less potential to affect people in the mainstream because the ‘immigrant history’ narrative holds sway here – fallacious or not. In order to make the argument effective you’d have to rhetorically defeat the people that conceive of America as a melting pot for Europeans AND muds, and who perceive everyone with legal citizenship as American.

I spent a few years in Germany as a child and I have relatives and friends there, and believe me, there are PLENTY of Jews in Germany, and they occupy all the “high places” and the best jobs. As soon as WW2 was over Jews came pouring back into Germany, and you might be interested to know that the “trial at Nuremburg” after the war was over was mostly officiated by Jews and that the “interrogation” (read torture) of the Nazi prisoners was conducted by Jews in the US army. If you do some research on General Patton you will discover that he loathed the Jews that he “liberated” and his feelings toward them might have had something to do with his premature demise. By the way, Merkel is a Shabbats-Goy of the 1st magnitude, and devoted to the interests of Israel.

For the same reason that we have an artificially created “shortage” of both nurses and “qualified” (to use Bill Gates term) I.T. people here- the native professionals are too expensive, so Gates imports Indian I.T. “professionals” who work for $6000 a year on H1B visas and the hospitals do the same for nurses. I had a surgery recently and the hospital that I was treated at had MORE Indian nurses than white (American) ones. Does anyone honestly believe that we are incapable of finding young Americans who can do these jobs? Same story for Germany- the corporate interests want access to that ultra-cheap labor.
The America I remember growing up in during the 70s and 80s wasn’t “Multicultural,” It was White with Blacks in the inner city. This whole “Multicultural Thing” wasn’t really pushed until Clinton got in there. I don’t know if this youngest Generation Bastard or Generation Wigger or whatever it’s called believes that towelheads and Hmong are authentically part of America or not, but Generation X and older remembers that these foreigners played no part in the America we grew up in.
While most people are “too nice” to tell these people in their face to “go home” or endorse a politician who talks like that, they very well would support someone who advocated a moratorium (which could be very open ended) on further immigration, a refusal to renew green cards due to the job situation, and an end to all these liberal AA and EEOC bureaucrats looking into hiring practices. As a result all these people who finagled pieces of paper making them so-called citizens can be politely rebuked in this job market for a nice white boy who speaks English. Perhaps seeing that Americans aren’t hiring these days might inspire these people to sell the house, pack up and move the family back to Saigon or Guadalajara.

I’m afraid your wrong Orlando. It’s already happening although not at a sufficiently quick enough pace for my tastes. If immigration laws are enforced, illegals deported and green card holders denied renewal and forced to leave your going to end up with something considerably less than 35% nonwhite. Something like 20%. Cut off the welfare so that people like Shantiqua Jones don’t come out of the gynecologist’s office smiling and high five slapping her girlfriend and screaming “KAAAA-CHING” and you effectively cut off the next generation of America’s criminal class.
I took a closer look at what Merkel said. Her attack on multiculturalism and defense of Germam culture is formulated in explicitly aracial not racial terms. I’m paraphrasing here, but her argument is basically that multiculturalism is not working in Germany because the Turks haven’t done a good enough job learning the LANGUAGE and embracing German CULTURE. Who have we heard making that argument before? She never mentioned German ethnic and racial identity. So, it doesn’t appear to me that what Albert Jackson wrote above is entirely correct. Merkel actually didn’t say anything that many American neocons wouldn’t say. The writers at National Review Online, for example, are always arguing that non-White immigration is fine as long as the immigrants learn English and assimilate into American culture.
Just one response to the whole Mayflower thing: my people have been here since the 1600s and were the builders and settlers of the Carolinas. They later settled Georgia and created English Florida. They won the Revolution that the Yankees started and couldn’t finish. They are the real Americans. Yankees are a different breed altogether :).

In Berlin schools, young Turks are harrassing and threatening violence against Germans, other non-German minorities, and in some cases even threatening teachers. Germany should quickly enact a policy of expulsion of all muslims but especially the Turks.

I had many a talk with small, immigrant business-owners (Arab, Iranian and Turkish) in my travels throughout Germany (they were about the only ones open to conversing with strangers/tourists) – and they all had basically the same view of Germans — they are competent, but cold, robotic, self-centered, arrogant – and that money is their only god. The fact Germany was pretty much razed to the ground in WWII and that most of the older city centers were replaced by sterile hyperfuturistic buildings only adds to the surreal “Brave New World” atmosphere of the place. Interesting, yes, but is it a place to emulate?
I’m well aware of the two or three conservatives who are opponents of multiculturalism. Pat Buchanan and Ann Coulter being the only other two I’m aware of. And you’ll need to place an asterisk next to Pat since he’s said many times that the “melting pot” must be made to work again. Tancredo has stated that his opposition to multiculti has nothing to do with race so maybe he gets an asterisk, too.
Pat’s functioning melting pot would result in the mongrelization of the white race before the end of the 21st century. While some conservatives acknowledge the concept of race and racial differences they believe these differences are mutable.
Merkels comments aren’t really so good. She is basically saying that immigrants need to mix more with Germans and that Germans need to accept immigrants as part of Germany and give up on the idea of ever sending them back.
She is only saying these things now because several other politicians have spoken out against immigration recently to great popular agreement and she doesn’t want to appear out of touch. It’s just political posturing. Until now, Merkel has been ultra PC in her statements and denounced anyone who criticized immigration.
Merkel is part of a center-right tendency in Europe who see America as a role model. There is a myth among these people that America has done an excellent job of assimilating non-white immigrants and that if Europe can be more like America(ie more “welcoming” of immigrants), all their immigration and minority problems will go away.
If your wondering how the hell can these people be so clueless about America, the answer is that they get their inormation from GOP and “business community” types who like to play down the importance of race and ethnicity and suggest that the darkies are happy on the plantation and that racial conflicts in America are figments of the left’s imagination. This is basically the Wall st. Journal view of America.

If being a Mayflower-descendant is a qualification for being a “real” American, then you must feel pretty lonely. There aren’t that many “English” Americans left. The largest group of White Americans (28%) is Germans.
I’m not going to be lured into a debate about the pros and cons regarding various White nationalities but, as a first generation Scandinavian immigrant, I can tell you that I’m more American and more patriotic than a whole lot of my White brethren. I’m also a lot Whiter, for that matter. 🙂
What Merkel is actually saying is more effort and money has to be spent to help Muslims integrate better. More money for German language classes and more money for indoctrination/integration classes where they’ll basically be told to act as though they respect Germans more and stop causing problems for Germans, stop harrassing German kids, etc. And if they start acting better more Muslim Turks will be allowed in.

I taveled through Germany as well, and found die Deutschen volke to be some of the nicest, kindest and most intellectual of all people in Europe.
I was amazed that I could have a virtual college-level conversation with nearly any German I spoke with … young or old, man or woman. And their English was near-flawless (spoke it better than many Americans).
*Really was quite amazing, especially one trip coming from London and having a middle-aged (White) English couple not knowing what the Magna Charta was. Can’t make this stuff up.

I’m with Simmons here. Regardless of whether or not Merkel is trying to steal the issues of the rightists, once she says openly that multi-kulti has failed, totally, so can everyone else. Her solution is assimilation, but there are other choices, once you admit the problem exists.
