Happy John Wilkes Booth Day!

OD celebrates our First Annual John Wilkes Booth Day

Alabama

I propose a toast: to the memory of the great John Wilkes Booth, slayer of tyrants, martyr for liberty, avenger of the South! May his countrymen prove worthy of his heroic sacrifice.

“After being hunted like a dog through swamps, woods, and … chased by gun boats till I was forced to return wet, cold, and starving, with every mans hand against me, I am here in despair. And why; For doing what Brutus was honored for, what made Tell a Hero. And yet I for striking down a greater tyrant than they ever knew am looked upon as a common cuttthroat … I hoped for no gain. I knew no private wrong. I struck for my country and that alone … I do not repent the blow I struck. I may before my God but not to man.”

Note: I’m pleased to see that the LoS is making some real progress. Nothing is gained by accommodating Rainbow Confederate idiocy. That’s like allowing modern Episcopalians to define Christianity.

We’re not “mainstream.” Let’s use that to our advantage. I for one happily embrace the charge of “extremism” by the SPLC. Indeed, it is “extreme” to be a self respecting White conservative in Black Run Amerika. That’s not allowed in the “mainstream.”

As Rhett would say, “I am a disunionist! I am traitor!” As the descendant of a long line of traitors, I feel no sense of loyalty to Obama or BRA. I’m not willing to march in lockstep with the “mainstream” off the cliff of world history.

I would directly respond to this article with a “well said,” but I have been Facebook purged.

  1. I’m pleased to see that the LoS is making some real progress. Nothing is gained by accommodating Rainbow Confederate idiocy. That’s like allowing modern Episcopalians to define Christianity.

Hunter, when has the LS abandoned Rainbow idiocy? Their North Carolina chairman, Bernhard Thuersam (a native of Niagara Falls, New York), is firmly in the Rainbow camp.

Several months ago, The Free Magnolia (Vol. 6, No. 1, page 7) ran an article by LS board member Franklin Sanders that called Negroes members of our nation and family.

  2. I should add this from the LS’s FAQ section:

The LS disavows a spirit of malice and extends an offer of good will and cooperation to Southern blacks . . .

Thereare no Southern blacks. There are black who live in the South, but they are not Southern. The LS weakens the Southern identity by extending it to Negroes. “Southern blacks” makes as much sense as saying “Turkish Germans”, “Algerian French”, or “Pakistani English”.

. . . in areas where we can work together as Christians to make life better for all people in the South.

If the LS is nationalistic, then why should it care about “all people in the South”? Mexicans, Yankees, Negroes, Jews? They all live in the South. Why does the LS want to make life better for all of them?

We affirm that, while historically the interests of Southern blacks and whites have been in part antagonistic, true Constitutional government would provide protection to all law-abiding citizens . . ..

The LS wishes to extend citizenship to Negroes in a reborn Confederacy?

    — not just to government-sponsored victim groups.

At least they’re against affirmative action!

  3. Is Rosa Parks her real name? It just occurred to me that it’s a typical Bolshevik alias.

    Rosa Spark…

  5. Why would any of you admire John Wilkes Booth? He was so stupid for thinking that by killing or kidnapping Lincoln even would change the outcome of the Civil War.
Thank you Jack for saying what you said. I’m not only someone that likes history, but I’m one that enjoys learning about the Civil War and our 16th President. I can’t believe that none of you “Booth admirers” knew that JWB had been planning to kidnap Lincoln for a long time before it turned into murder.
You need to know what was going on inside Booth’s sick twisted head up until he killed Lincoln so you better read up! Yes I love to learn and READ about Abraham Lincoln, partly because ever since I was a child he’s been my favorite president.
Stop calling Lincoln a tyrant! Lincoln never wanted the Civil War to happen.
I’ve got the title of a book for you so called “Booth admirers” to read. It’s called “MANHUNT The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln’s Killer” by James L. Swanson.
    It’s an excellent book.
Booth thought that by killing Lincoln, he would be thought of as a hero in the South. When in reality he wasn’t. All Booth really was is a COWARD!!!!! Assassinating Lincoln is truly the only thing that Booth will ever be known for. He should have been known and remembered for his acting, but all anybody will forever remember him for is the assassination of our 16th President Abraham Lincoln. Not many people know the name of the man who shot JWB or how bad the gun shot was that Booth took. I do. It was on both sides of the Mason-Dixon line that were grieving over Lincoln’s death. It was also on both sides that there were people that were happy that Lincoln was dead. So before you continue to be a “Booth admirer” put yourself in Mary-Todd’s shoes, her sons shoes. Try to look at it from their view, try to think how your family would feel I they just saw the lunatic that shot you AND escape. Maybe before you go bashing on Lincoln again but not Booth, try to put you and your family in the Lincoln’s shoes. Show a little respect for the dead will you?

  6. Booth was an agent of justice. He was a Southern avenger. But for true justice to have been delivered Boston and other New England cities would have had to be burned down, their surviving populations put under military occupation and their government put in the hands of an illiterate population of Third World people.

  7. I’m not gonna say he was right and I’m not gonna say he was wrong, but I will question the use of the term “coward”. What part of his actions could be considered “cowardly”, and what could he have done to make them not “cowardly”. Should he have marched up to the bodyguard and ordered him to stand aside in the name of justice? Maybe given Lincoln fair warning and an equal weapon? Stayed and waved to the people saying “you’re welcome” instead of running? Sure he was just an actor and probably not a “legit tough guy” in his day to day life, but what he did that day, right or wrong, took guts. A coward is someone gripped and paralyzed by fear, unable or unwilling to act on a belief no matter how deeply they hold it. So again, hero or villain JWB was anything but a coward.
