2021: Year In Review

Editor’s Note: This article is inspired by Matt Parrott’s take on 2021.

2021 can be summed up by three trends.

Joe Biden’s Rapid Decline

Joe Biden swept into the White House in January and the Democrats were returned to power with a razor thin majority in Congress. In retrospect, they did the vaccine rollout, the COVID relief bill and passed an infrastructure bill, which is exactly what I expected to happen in the podcasts that I recorded earlier this year. President Joe Manchin has hamstrung pretty much the entire Democratic agenda.

Among other things, illegal immigration, crime, gas prices and inflation have all been worse than expected. The withdrawal from Afghanistan was poorly executed. COVID’s stubborn persistence has been worse than expected. The Wokelash arrived on schedule. It was predictable that Biden’s honeymoon would fade over the summer and that his legislative agenda would go nowhere due to his margins in the House and Senate and that there would be a “thermostatic” backlash from the Right, but one of the dominant trends of the year has been the rapid erosion of Joe Biden’s coalition which has all but collapsed in the polls.

Joe Biden’s cement shoes are dragging the Democrats down.

The Organized Movement’s Disarray

The second trend has been that the “far right” has become much more disorganized and has fallen into disarray. This is mainly due the Patriot wing of the “far right” which was swept up in the Capitol Siege. The Proud Boys and the Oathkeepers have been hit with arrests and a Charlottesville-style civil suit. January 6 was Charlottesville for those groups. The Unite the Right groups also got hit with millions of dollars of punitive damages in the Sines v. Kessler trial although how that ultimately shakes out remains to be seen.

It was an extremely quiet year for the movement. There wasn’t much in the way of street activism. There were no accelerationist mass shootings. There was more of the usual censorship. The Alt-Right continued to decompose. Everyone kept a lower public profile in the first year of the Biden administration. There has been a broad shift away from public facing social media and pointless street battles with Antifa which are attended by “journalists” and toward encrypted apps and local organizing out of public view.

The organized movement is currently in a regrouping and transition phase. Censorship, lawfare, state repression and infighting have taken a major toll. Flawed individuals have been massively exposed.

Normies Are Being Radicalized

By far, the single most important story of the year is that normies have become much more radicalized. It was normies who stormed the Capitol. It was middle class people in their forties who did that. A combination of the George Floyd riots and Trump losing the 2020 election pushed them over the edge. These people have come a long way over the past two years.

In the span of a year, the term anti-White, the Great Replacement and secession went mainstream. White anxiety has gone off the charts in focus groups and polls. Whites have become far more defensive than was the case in the past. Whites have also become much more critical of corporate power and the free market and more willing to use to state power to accomplish their ends. There has been a blurring between these newly radicalized normies and the organized movement and what used to be the mainstream.

It isn’t clear what the “Alt-Right” or “Dissident Right” means anymore. Whether it is nationalism and populism, White identity, critiques of liberalism and libertarianism, protectionism, isolationism, immigration restriction or a strong rejection of political correctness, you can increasingly find all of that to varying degrees at the center of the GOP now. Explicit and candid discussions of race realism, the Jewish Question and the White ethnostate are still taboo. You can turn on your television though and hear Whites talked about and the term “anti-White” used which wasn’t the case a year ago.

Thomas Edsall recently compared this development to slowly boiling water. The target audience has become more receptive to our messaging. The barriers which used to separate the “fringe” from the “mainstream” have thawed somewhat as our views have become more prevalent. Saying that the Union ought to be dissolved was an exotic view in 2001 and you still came across as weird saying it in 2014 but now most people in White rural and small town America wouldn’t be surprised by secession and expect Civil War 2 to happen. Similarly, the idea that White people are under attack and need to stand up for themselves is much more widely accepted than was the case five years ago.

Moving Forward

This mismatch between the disorganized movement and the warming public needs to change. After years of trial and error and learning hard lessons, it ought to be clear to everyone that the best way to do it is quietly and locally. The worst way to to do is to go barging into a place like Charlottesville or Portland to own the libs and creating a big media spectacle and trusting the system to protect our constitutional rights. It is better to use encrypted apps to create local affinity groups and to blend in with and focus on recruiting and vetting new people in your area than traveling from place to place. We need to be tapping into and organizing all of this discontent with the status quo. You need to focus on finding your fellow radicals in your city, town or county, not making national headlines.

  1. “gas prices and inflation have all been worse than expected.”

Hahaha , PPI just came in at 9% , far worse than expected, “will be worse”.

Import prices are up 12%. This signals the end of masking inflation with cheap chinese imports. The schemes are starting to unravel.

  2. “Normies Are Being Radicalized”

More like, the average sportstard is getting some sense knocked into their thick skulls, ever so slowly.

It’s a strange anomaly in the nature of most ppl, the more prosperity, the dumber ppl become. Only poverty and harsh circumstances produce the tiniest glimmer of good sense.

  3. I think you folks who advocate for secession are foolish, unless you take all the goodies, nukes and economic power. Otherwise you’ll be sharing borders with powerful, evil hedgemon.

  4. “The withdrawal from Afghanistan was poorly executed”:

I thought it was great, a perfect withdrawal, except for the part where hidden CIA-hired death squads were shooting into the crowds at the airport and blaming it on Afghans. But the U.S. hasn’t REALLY stopped its fifty-year-long (going back to Jimmy Carter) war on Afghanistan. Oh no. It cannot let go.

And who says the Biden administration is failing? Not failing where it really counts. The most successful development in 2021 you do not mention: The new military budget being approved in Congess now is the highest in human history, with even more money, permission and encouragement to prepare for hot war against China, Russia, Iran, etc. than the Biden administration had requested. More F-35 bombers, the most lucrative militaryhardware contract in history. More ships being built and the U.S. Navy is already larger than all the other navies of the world combined. More nukes of all kinds, and they intend to use them soon. The failures that the Biden adminstration does have (“woke overreach” etc.) are useful in preparing the population to want, and to ask for, a right-populist military dictatorship.

    • The Afghanistan withdrawal was exceptionally well executed by US military standards. It was just not well received by the imperialist media, so it was a “failure.” Unfortunately, any credit that can be given for the withdrawal is nullified by the current attempts to starve the Afghanistan population with sanctions.

It hardly matters. They can spend all the fake money that the Fed can fart out but when the new woke marines flounce ashore in Crimea or Taiwan, they’ll trip over their high-heels just before being blown to bits by Russians or Chinese. The great pink fleet might even look impressive, but when one of its shiny billion-dollar boats capsizes before it even gets to fire a missile because Capt. Shaniqua farted in her over-sized fuzzy-chair, the World Emperor Uncle Schmuel will be revealed to the entire planet as Gen. Butt Naked. At this stage, any white man in the military is either desperately holding on until he can retire (hoping to collect a pension that Larry Fink will loot), a candidate for a Darwin award, or a filthy woke treasonous shabbas-goy. There will be zero sadness for either themselves or their negroid and alien comrades whose worthless carcasses are returned to the Banana homeland in body bags. Schelomo, who promotes and profits from all the wars and destruction, will never be seen among those who get to stop the bullets, as always.

  5. Run for your local school board, city council or board of supervisors. Homeschool and homestead. Be neighborly if you have neighbors. Offer to help with a project.
To get people to switch their thinking, plant mental seeds. Ask about the horrible dindu crimes that make the news. “Did you hear about 14 year old Ryan Rogers murder in Florida?” etc. They’ll look it up. Let those seeds germinate. Fertilize them with the new crime stories that happen every week.

Make fun of Woke Inc., GlobalHomo and black sportsball as idiotic, wastes of time for low brained people. Invite your neighbors to a cookout on gameday, where you’ll enjoy community and fellowship WITHOUT the game or television on.
Little things lay the foundation for big networks of like-minded, traditional people.

  6. Organize quietly. Maybe.

We need to get our groove back in terms of entertainment value again because our greatest asset is how damn funny it is to rustle jimmies by ridiculing these sacred cows.

The braintrust lost the thread and got way too serious. Mike Enoch literally spent a year talking about the chemistry of prussian blue on what used to be a great show. This is one of my favorite examples, but its only one.

Everything got super gay and serious and lost all its appeal.

We don’t need to beat the bad guys. We need to look cool while they beat themselves.
