American Democracy has died
End of an era. It has been a hell of a ride working with @BrianStelter and the @ReliableSources team over the last five years. Brian has been a first-class colleague, mentor, and friend. I cannot wait to see what he does next.— Oliver Darcy (@oliverdarcy) August 18, 2022
I picked a bad day to violate the ABC rule — Always Be Charging. I took the kiddos out sightseeing in midtown Manhattan and my phone's at 2% ?????— Brian Stelter (@brianstelter) August 18, 2022
I loved anchoring @ReliableSources. It was a rare privilege to lead a weekly show focused on the press at a time when it has never been more consequential. And here's the thing…— Brian Stelter (@brianstelter) August 18, 2022
We're going to do it one more time. One more show. This Sunday morning. The small but mighty producing team is working on bookings and ideas right now. I am in awe of their talent and I am going to do everything I can to help them find new roles. See you Sunday at 11am ET.— Brian Stelter (@brianstelter) August 18, 2022
We are Brian’s biggest fans!
“Brian Stelter will depart CNN, multiple sources confirmed to The Daily Beast, as the network is set to cancel his Sunday media show Reliable Sources.
CEO Chris Licht informed Stelter of his decision on Wednesday, according to NPR, and his last show will be Sunday. A CNN spokesperson confirmed the news on Thursday afternoon: “CNN will end its Reliable Sources program on Sunday, August 21st. As a result Brian Stelter will leave the company. We appreciate his contributions to the network and wish him well as he embarks on new endeavors.”
Brian found out yesterday that he was being let go.
“CNN chief Chris Licht informed Stelter of the decision yesterday. Licht has been making cuts throughout the network since taking the helm as part of Warner Bros. Discovery’s takeover of the old Time Warner company. Stelter, who often touted the show’s ratings on Twitter, was among those CNN hosts targeted for frequent criticism from conservatives for his coverage of the media in the Trump years. …”
I always wrap up the week by watching a recording of Reliable Sources. It is part of my routine.
