The first time he did it wasn’t enough for Netanyahu.
“TEL AVIV, Israel — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu — fighting for political survival in Tuesday’s elections — has pleaded with President Trump in recent days to show more public support for his campaign, according to a U.S. source with knowledge and an Israeli source briefed on the matter.
Why it matters: The U.S. source said the White House sees Netanyahu’s aggressive lobbying as a “sign of desperation” and an indication that the Israeli leader thinks he’s trailing. …
Behind the scenes: The U.S. source said Netanyahu spoke with Trump twice in the last three days and asked him to double down on his Truth Social post last week endorsing him.
The source said Netanyahu even suggested language for additional statements of support. …”
We’re less than 24 hours from Israel’s election and Netanyahu still hasn’t managed to reignite the Iran War. Rumor has it that the IDF is refusing to return to war to save Bibi.
Note: Trump admits in his Truth Social post that he also attacked Venezuela for Netanyahu.
Trump is too obviously demented: going off about stupid stuff, commenting on everyone’s ass, thinking he should have won the Nobel Peace Prize when he started a war. 80 years old is too old for President. Eligibility needs to end at 60 years old
Even if Bibi were to lose the election tomorrow he would still remain PM until parliament can form a new government, potentially a long process. Theoretically, the IDF answers not just to the PM but the entire government through the defense minister. The chief of staff is also legally the commander of the armed forces. This means that even if Netanyahu loses tomorrow he will remain in command of the Israeli military for an undetermined length of time.
There could be a situation where Netanyahu loses enough votes in parliament so that he loses his position as PM once a new government is formed. This will probably make him even more reckless if he knows he is on the way out and subject to the legal process by his political enemies. There is also the fact that he is 77 YO and wants to leave a legacy of having destroyed Israel’s enemies, real and imagined and this is his last chance.
Either way, win or lose, Netanyahu might just go balls out after tomorrow’s election and attack Iran, not even bothering to notify Trump until it’s a fait accompli too. Trump would then have to join in the war before the mid-terms, virtually destroying any slight chance the Republicans have of not getting wiped out in the elections next week. Netanyahu doesn’t care what happens to his great friend, the Stable Genius, he is expendable, just like the U.S. is expendable.
