Barring some dramatic turn of events in the war before the 2024 election, it is going to be Ron DeSantis, Donald Trump or more of this for the next five to six years.

“Thank you so much for coming Mr. President at a huge moment for Ukraine,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskky said in remarks before a bilateral meeting with Biden. “I really appreciate that President Biden, American society have been from the very beginning …  of this war have been together with us.” …

“I thought it was critical that there not be any doubt, none whatsoever, about U.S. support for Ukraine in the war,” Biden said. …

”He wanted to demonstrate the strength of his commitment to his strategy of holding the West together, and the united front against Putin,” White House communications director Kate Bedingfield said in a briefing. …”

Salon:

“Biden walked down the streets of the Ukrainian capital with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as air sirens blared in the background, CNN reported. The show of support came months after Zelenskyy traveled to D.C. to meet with Biden in the Oval Office and address a joint session of Congress.

“One year later, Kyiv stands. And Ukraine stands. Democracy stands,” Biden said, announcing a $500 million package of additional assistance to Ukraine, including military equipment and ammunition.

Biden also announced new sanctions against Russia over its “brutal invasion.”

“When Putin launched his invasion nearly one year ago, he thought Ukraine was weak and the West was divided. He thought he could outlast us. But he was dead wrong,” Biden said, adding that later this week the government will “announce additional sanctions against elites and companies that are trying to evade or backfill Russia’s war machine.” …”

President Biden’s visit to Kyiv matters just as much as any of these.

Other heads of government preceded him, earning deserved credit. But it is an altogether different thing when the president of the United States—who is, indeed, the leader of the Free World—shows up. His words mattered. He pledged “our unwavering and unflagging commitment to Ukraine’s democracy, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.” And even more importantly, that the United States will stand with Ukraine “as long as it takes.” …“

The response from MAGA is more or less correct.

This country is falling apart in all sorts of ways – the collapse of the border, the train derailment in Ohio which had 19th century brakes, the Air Force shooting down civilian science project balloons – and the top priority of the bipartisan political establishment is united behind Standing With Ukraine because of big abstractions like “freedom” and “democracy.” This is why we were stuck in Afghanistan for 20 years. They also clearly don’t give a shit what anyone else thinks is important. Such is their commitment to “democracy” that the policy of arming Ukraine will continue as the public turns against it.

    Nope, many who run the western part of The West have grown so used to operating things through smoke and mirrors they do not realize there are limits.

    Appearances, symbols, statements, inflections, threats, and sanctions do not win arguments with tanks, cannons and guns.

    Russia has explained it – if you want Ukraine, you’ll have to come man it out – month after month, year after year, decade after decade.

    They know what every one else in the world knows – Americans have many virtues, but, we are an impatient people, and, that so, it will affect those at the top of our food chain in pursuit of world hegemony..

    • After China captures Taiwan, at the latest. Whites should refuse to cooperate; not our country, not our war. When the U.S. Government passes a bill of conscription, which is inevitable, they will have to concede that women will not be conscripted into the military. They may try to force them into some other kind of “national service” where they will get enriched by diversity though.

      The U.S. Government has its Eye of Sauron on the White, Christian, male cohort to properly staff their high-tech military. The diversity is just incompetent and unreliable, everyone knows this. Getting Whites killed is a plus for the U.S. Government which is working to replace us anyway.

  11. If this Ukraine situation evolves into an actual clash between NATO and Russia, I can foresee echoes of Russia in 1917 happening in America, a mutiny by troops, the ruling system no longer believed in by the people, profound economic dislocation etc.

The argument could be made that the billions or trillions spent on defense the last 20 years or so, would have been better spent on upgrading America’s ICBMs, and making sure nuclear weapons are up to speed, concentrating on drones and other remote controlled weapons like the Chinese ‘balloons,’ rather than on another poorly thought out open ended war/occupation for ‘democracy’.
