? Democrats Expand Lead in May as Voters Sour Further on the Iran War; Say It's Not Worth the Economic Cost

The midterm outlook worsened for Republicans in May amid rising unpopularity of the Iran War and Democratic advantages on trust to handle issues.

Peter Thiel isn’t a fool.
He knew Trump was doomed in 2020 and didn’t support him. It speaks volumes about his confidence in JD Vance in 2028 that he is fleeing the country and taking up residence in Argentina. The fact that Argentina is hardly a bulwark of political stability ought to tell you how badly the Golden Age is playing.
“The Saturday tournament at the Buenos Aires chess club hosted its usual lineup of players, including an accountant, a college student and schoolchildren. But this time, hunched over the club’s tiny wooden tables with them, was a new entrant: Peter Thiel, the right-wing tech billionaire and Trump donor.
Mr. Thiel — who, according to one of the participants, “did not play badly” and came in third — had recently decamped from his homes in Los Angeles and Miami to establish a foothold thousands of miles away in Argentina’s capital.
His new roots in Argentina are partly motivated by his concerns about the direction of the United States, the people familiar with his thinking say, particularly California, where an initiative on November’s ballot could lead to a significant tax on billionaires. …”
Rumors are circulating that Vance is giving up on 2028.
“JD Vance, now the lone dove in Donald Trump‘s cabinet after Tulsi Gabbard‘s resignation, has been left more isolated than ever and is even considering abandoning a run for the presidency in 2028, multiple sources tell the Daily Mail.
Gabbard’s resignation letter cited her husband’s diagnosis with a rare form of cancer.
But the whispers racing through the West Wing find common ground: Iran.
Vance’s most senior non-interventionist ally is gone, and even as he expressed his sorrow for the exit of his ‘dear friend’ on Friday, insiders told the Daily Mail that his own future is at the front of his mind, while his rivals sharpen their blades.
‘Vance is a non-event in the West Wing,’ a source close to the President told Daily Mail. …”
The GOP will probably spend the next decade digging out of the rubble of this disaster. Trump is closing in on George W. Bush’s political standing in his second term in the RCP poling average.
