Visiting Tsenacommacah

Jamestowne, The First Permanent English Settlement in North America

Tsenacommacah.

If you are a typical American, you have never heard of Tsenacommacah. Even the history buffs and anti-racists who read this website have probably never heard of it before. I myself had never heard of Tsenacommacah until two weeks ago. The name sounds unfamiliar to English-speaking ears.

Tsenacommacah – An Alien Land

What is Tsenacommacah? Why is it so important? Why would a White Nationalist be compelled to visit such a place? What relevance does Tsenacommacah have to the discussions that go on here?

“Tsenacommacah” has another name that should be more familiar to our readers: Eastern Virginia.

“Tsenacommacah” (or “densely inhabited land”) was the homeland of the Powhatan Indians. In the seventeenth century, their lands stretched along the Atlantic coast from the southern bank of the Potomoc River to the southern bank of the James River and around a hundred miles into the continental interior.

They were the brutal overlords of an Indian confederacy that included over thirty tribes scattered across Eastern Virginia. “Werowocomoco,” the capital of “Tsenacommacah” (located near the York River in present day Glouchester County, Virginia), should also be an unfamiliar term.

The Powhatan Indians were an Algonquin-speaking people. Racially speaking, they were Amerindians. Technologically, they were still in the Stone Age when the English arrived in Virginia. They were non-Christian pagans who practiced human sacrifice and worshiped an extinct pantheon of deities. They subsisted off hunting and fishing and New World crops like maize, squash, and beans.

The United States of America owes nothing to the Powhatan Indians or the other aboriginal tribes of Virginia. America, as we know it today, was as likely to spring from the Powhatan Indians as France was from the genius of the Neanderthals.

Tsenacommacah/Virginia

Captain John Smith

In 1607, the “Native Americans” (104 Englishmen and boys) arrived in “Tsenacommacah,” a land which they called “Virginia” in honor of Queen Elizabeth I, the fair skinned “Virgin Queen” of England. At the time, the English used the term “Virginia”  to refer to the North American coastline above Spanish Florida; North Carolina was “south Virginia” and New England was “north Virginia.”

A year before, in 1606, the Virginia Company (a private for-profit joint stock enterprise) received its corporate charter from King James I of England. By the terms of the charter, the Virginia Company was charged with establishing a colonial settlement in North America. The English had used similar joint stock companies for decades to promote trade with Russia and India.

The purpose of the Virginia colony was fourfold: 1.) to provide a release valve for the teeming English underclass (who had no prospect of advancement in the overpopulated mother country), 2.) serve as a source of raw materials for England and a potential market for English goods, 3.) challenge the Spanish claim to the Atlantic seaboard of North America, and 4.) bring the indigenous Indian tribes into the Church of England.

The colonists were instructed to find a defensible, uninhabited area along a major river about a hundred miles inland from Chesapeake Bay. Such a fortified location would stand a better chance of resisting attacks by the Spanish from their bases in the Caribbean. Dropping anchor on an unsettled island or inlet, as opposed to an ideal location, was a calculation made to avoid antagonizing the local Indians.

The English wanted to establish good relations with the Indians. Their mission was to convert them to Christianity and mobilize them as allies against the Spanish. The Indians were also seen as trading partners; engaging with them in commerce was thought to work to the advantage of both parties.

This is why the English selected a small island in the James River connected to the mainland by a narrow peninsula as the site of their colony. “Jamestowne,” named after King James I, was a “waste area” of the local Paspahegh Indians, vassals of the Powhatan chiefdom which ruled all of “Tsenacommach.” The swampy, disease infested island was only used by the Paspahegh for seasonal hunting.

At the earliest stage in Virginia history, this much is clear: the English did not come to “Virginia” with the farsighted, long range ambition of creating a race-based North American empire at the expense of Amerindians.  Their motivations were selfish, moral, religious, economic and geopolitical.

Wahunsunacock, Chief of the Powhatan

Jamestowne – Virginia Beachhead in Tsenacommacah

On May 14, 1607, the English colonists began their occupation of Jamestown island on the James River. They began construction of a defensive fort. Within two days, the English were visited by the Paspahegh Indians who left after a violent dispute. Two weeks later, the Paspahegh attacked Jamestown with an assault force of 400 Powhatan Indians, but were repulsed by English gunfire. Over the next two weeks, the Paspahegh continued their attacks on Jamestown while the colonists rushed to finish their fortifications.

Unable to dislodge the English from “Tsenacommacah,” Wahunsunacock (Chief of the Powhatans) arrived in Jamestown in June and announced a ceasefire. The English and Powhatans started to engage in limited trade. Through the fall and winter, the English continued their exploration of the Chesapeake and James River Basin.

While exploring Chickahominy country, another vassal of the Pohwatan Confederacy, Captain John Smith was captured in December 1607 and ordered to abandon Jamestowne and leave Paspahegh territory. The Powhatans had never reconciled themselves to the annoying English presence in “Tsenacommacah” and had only traded with the colonists to acquire strategic metal goods.

In 1608, the Jamestown colonists and the Powhatans went to war. After failing to abandon the colony, the Paspaheghs and their Powhatan allies attacked Jamestown; in self defense, the English retaliated by attacking and burning neighboring Paspahegh villages. With their superior weapons,  the English had the better of the fight.

Over the next decade, the Powhatans tried ever ruse imaginable to exterminate or expel the English from “Tsenacommacah”: full frontal military assault, economic boycott, siege and starvation, guerrilla warfare, feigning friendship while plotting genocide. At one point, the Jamestown colonists were even reduced to cannibalism and temporarily abandoned the settlement, only to find the resupply ship from England waiting for them in Chesapeake Bay.

Jamestown alternated between peacetime and wartime footing. After every savage Powhatan attack, the English colonists would convince themselves that the Powhatans wanted peace … and this time it would be different. They intermarried with the Indians; for example, John Rolfe famously took Pocahontas as his wife. They traded strategic military goods like swords and rifles with them. They built schools for Indian children and invited the Powhatans to live amongst them.

In 1622, this naive policy culminated in a 9/11-style massacre of 1/4th of the Jamestown colonists in a surprise attack by the Powhatans. The Powhatan chief Opechancanough spent years trading with the English, tolerating the expansion of their settlements, allowing them to carry on missionary activity. He lulled the English into a false sense of security and struck at the right moment.

The Powhatans attempted to kill every last English man, woman, and child in Virginia. It was genocide.

In 1622, the Powhatans massacre 1/4th of the Jamestown colonists in a 9/11-style sneak attack.

Virginia Extirpates “Tsenacommacah”

After the sneak attack, the Virginia Company lost its charter and Virginia became a crown colony. The English colonists abandoned their attempt to convert the savages to Christianity. The General Assembly bluntly declared, “The termes betwixt us and them are irreconcilable.” The “extirpating of the Salvages” and the “winning of the Forrest” were now declared essential to the security of the colony.

So the English built a wall across the peninsula between the York and James Rivers. By attempting to exterminate the colonists, the Powhatans forfeited their claim to “Tsenacommachah.” The English expelled the Powhatans from “Virginia” and seized 300,000 acres of land for the secure development of their posterity.

By 1625, Virginia had rebounded from the Powhatan attack.  1,218 English men, women, and children were living in 21 settlements along the James River and Eastern Shore. The English settlers had begun to think more like racial nationalists, less like religious crusaders.

Lessons of Jamestown

A few instructive lessons can be drawn from Jamestown and Colonial Virginia:

1.) The Jamestown colonists did not require an elaborate abstract philosophy to justify their actions. They were not White Nationalists in any sense of the word either. White racial consciousness only developed later in Virginia after several generations of Englishmen had been born in the New World.

The colonists were simple men. The keyword here is men: when the Indians attacked, they retaliated. When the Powhatans attempted genocide, the English responded in turn. The English were self assertive and willing to take whatever practical steps were necessary to defend their interests.

2.) The English and Jamestown colonists had a mercantile mentality. The colony was conceived and justified on the basis that its prosperity would benefit the English nation.

3.) The policy of assimilation was a complete failure and led to disaster after disaster. The Spanish placed their trust in the Powhatans and the result was the demise of their Ajacán mission. The English attempt to assimilate the Powhatan resulted in the annihilation of 1/4th of the Virginia colonists.

4.) The greed of individuals undermined the colony. Unrestricted trade with the Powhatans undermined the value of English goods and passed along English military technology into the hands of the enemy. The brutal conditions endured by indentured servants sapped the unity of the colony. See also chasing after gold and a route to the “South Sea” instead of pursuing agricultural self sufficiency.

5.) White solidarity was a myth. The Spanish attempted to undermine Jamestown from the beginning. Several Germans artisans went over to the enemy. There were numerous runaways from Jamestown who ended up living among the Indians.

6.) Intermarriage eroded the English identity of the colonists and laid the groundwork for the 1622 massacre.

7.) It was a mistake to leave the colony in this private hands of a for-profit corporation. This error was later rectified when Virginia became a royal colony.

8.) The most important lesson to take away from Jamestown is that “blood, sweat, and tears” – not any abstract philosophy – is what enabled “Virginia” to supplant “Tsenacommacah.” The English burned Indian villages up and down the James River. They sailed up the James and its tributaries in their boats and pacified the countryside with a mobile strike force armed with rifles and heavy armor. They burned Indian fields to reduce the Powhatans to starvation.

Ultimately, the English succeeded after they finally adopted a realistic appraisal of their military circumstances in Virginia. They built the wall across the peninsula, expelled all the Indians, and imported as many White colonists from England as possible. They forbid trading with the enemy. They thought squarely in terms of their own self interest, not wishy washy idealism.

Strong men won the day.

Visiting Tsenacommacah

On Friday, I traveled with H. Rock White into “Tsenacommacah” to see for myself how “Virginia” was born. I wanted to walk in the footsteps of the English colonists and see the sights which must have been so familiar to them.

We visited Jamestown, Colonial Williamsburg, and Yorktown: the beginning, maturation, and capstone of Colonial Virginia. I took photos of all three sites in Colonial National Park. We shot video on the scene in Jamestown and Yorktown.

I couldn’t help but notice that character was the essential ingredient in the success of all three enterprises. The colonists were strong enough in mind and body to establish an English beachhead in “Tsenacommacah.” They were strong enough to transplant English civilization into Virginia. Finally, the colonists were strong enough to secure military victory at Yorktown.

Can you imagine White Nationalists living in the material conditions of Jamestown? Can you imagine White Nationalists having such a “let’s go” action oriented attitude toward dealing with the enemy in the real world? Can you imagine White Nationalists marching on foot from New York to Virginia with George Washington to face down Lord Cornwallis and his cannons?

If you can’t imagine any of these scenarios, you have identified what is wrong with the White Nationalist movement. Ordinary men didn’t have to read Martin Heidegger, Savitri Devi, or Guillaume Faye to conquer a continent. All they needed was balls, weapons, and a clear sense of their own interests.

Note: The photos and videos associated with this post will be uploading in the morning.

  1. A quibble you lapsed back into calling anti-whites, “anti-racists.” Never let them off so easy.

  2. Trainspotter,

When the White Nationalist movement finally perfects its worldview, presumably after another ten or twenty years of discussing ideas, will the people who refuse to stand up for their beliefs in the real world finally do so?

  3. “When the White Nationalist movement finally perfects its worldview, presumably after another ten or twenty years of discussing ideas, ”

Right, we want whites to stop focusing on our ideas and instead take direct action. The millions of real, everyday, normal and practical people are doing this right now. They are taking direct action and are listening to Sarah Palin, electing people like Marcus Rubio and, above all, the ideas motivating them are very simple: Anyone can be a good American, as long as you follow the rule of law and work hard. A black Mexican who works hard and is not on welfare is as good an American as any white man.

We don’t need any European abstract ideas. All we need are the two primary ideas found in the Declaration of Independence and in the long cultural traditon of our country since the first colonists arrived: All men are created equal and a solid work ethic.

    Yes, that will do it.

And, even better, it looks as though a certain force is going to enforce this simplistic American idea: You can get the shit beat out of you by certain good ole red blooded Americans by suggesting otherwise.

Come to think of it, your idea is already being put into practice, Hunter. Let’s go ahead and disband the racial project.

  4. But seriously, Hunter is inexperienced and is doing what so many do. He is looking for fireworks and large font headlines proclaming the coming of white special interests and awakening. That is NOT how this is going to happen.

I see victory all around us.

Special rights for nonwhites is under serious fire. Anti-white hatred is obvious to nearly all. There is a large movement to end government entitlements and benefits through taxation. Hollywood and the war on our culture are known and detested. Banks and bankers are under fire. Stopping immigration of nonwhites is front and center. The shortcomings of nonwhites is openly talked about, etc., etc.

As long as my objectives are met, I don’t give a damn if white people claim to be racists or not.

Very true. But how do these abstract theories from Europe work towards that? They may even impede our progress, by presenting us in a bizarre and alien light to those working towards those goals you described which are beneficial to whites. A lot of this ‘European New Right’ stuff actually has more in common with the liberals it claims to oppose than with the white-beneficial movements developing in the US today

  6. Right, we want whites to stop focusing on our ideas and instead take direct action.

Here’s a single idea: create a Jew-free, White ethnostate. Insofar as ideas go, that is one of the handful that we need. Stop insinuating that we don’t already have ideas. White Nationalists have known the endgame for over thirty years now.

When the Jew-free, White ethnostate is created, there will be plenty of time to consider other ideas.

  7. “Very true. But how do these abstract theories from Europe work towards that? ”

Simple. By changing some names. I can sell about 90 percent of, say, NS, to everyday white Americans. Ditto, Nietzsche, Eugenics. And many other examples. All I have to do is not call it that. You have to use some “outside of the box” thinking.

Too many in this movement just are not in the top tier when it comes to intellectual firepower.

  8. “Stop insinuating that we don’t already have ideas. ”

    ??

Is there something wrong with your monitor? You either are missing a lot of text that people write, have THE worst case of reading comprehension that I know of, or else are so gung ho to be critical that you spinning what people say or think as bad as any New York Times journalist.

You need to slow down some and quit awhile with the criticism. Relax.

  9. By changing some names. I can sell about 90 percent of, say, NS, to everyday white Americans. Ditto, Nietzsche

Two problems with that: it doesn’t seem to be working so far, and traditional American values are better than NS (which was geared to an entirely different situation) and Nietzsche

  10. It doesn’t seem to be working?

Yes, it does work. Try it. And I mean YOU try it.

I Listed the two primary Traditional American values above, but you want to ignore that and talk about some largely imaginary ones that are more a part of nostalgic reminicence than anything that ever existed.

  11. All men are created equal

That’s been purposely misrepresented in the past few decades. It only applied to whites, and in terms of political power, that was no established nobility. The same man who wrote those words, Thomas Jefferson, also said it was impossible for blacks and whites to live in the same country.

    and a solid work ethic.

    What’s wrong with that?

A black Mexican who works hard and is not on welfare is as good an American as any white man.

How many of them are there? Once people realize that there aren’t that many, and that even blacks/Mexicans act as a political class against the white producers, things will begin moving forward.

  12. “That’s been purposely misrepresented in the past few decades. ”

True, but it wasn’t hard to misrepresent and the American White people bought it.

    “What’s wrong with that?”

Nothing is wrong with a solid work ethic, but there IS something wrong when you disconecting that from what I meant and asking what is wrong with that before quoting my definition: “A black Mexican who works hard and is not on welfare is as good an American as any white man.” And there is plenty wrong with that.

And no, there are not many of them, but there are some, and Americans are sympathetic to these and offering for them to be Americans. And they are doing so using the American Tradition of principle.

“Once people realize that there aren’t that many, and that even blacks/Mexicans act as a political class against the white producers, things will begin moving forward.”

    Let’s hope so.

  13. True, but it wasn’t hard to misrepresent and the American White people bought it.

Even setting aside my personal preference for a system in which talented whites from humble backgrounds are able to rise to the top (this type of egalitarianism was also a key selling point of NS), which do you think is easier:

    A. Using Jefferson’s own writings and other contemporary works, convince Americans that he did not mean that all people of all races are inherently equal in all things including natural talent and ability

    B. Replace the reverence for Jefferson and the Declaration of Independence amongst white Americans with recycled propaganda from the medieval feudal system

  14. Yep, you, too, are a one dimensional, in the box thinker.

What makes you think I need to denigrate Jefferson and the Declaration of Independence in front of people in order to get a few concepts in?

BTW, contra most historians, and as is obvious from the facts and conditions of history, people LIKED the Medieval feudal system. But I am not interested in a return to feudalsim.

Like I said, too many of you guys are stuck in trying to peg things into only a few holes. I get the feeling that a lot of people, if it was not already popular, would think a person would have to praise Italy in order to sell pizza.

I bet there are not a dozen marketers, consultants, or serious bosses or business owners within the ranks of WN.

  15. Brutus,

Okay. We get it. You are not impressed with the movement. If you’re accomplishing something, please lay out what you’re doing so we can emulate it. And not just “think outside the bun” or “repackage”. We’re all a bunch of retarded assholes, so you need to be very explicit.

  16. I have “laid out” some things, several times on this site over that last two months or so.

I will be explicit here on this detail, STOP with the damned idea that you have to speak, dress, label, write, paint, etc. everything and every racial idea or concept in those explicit terms. I’m not really a NS, but I use that as a convenient example many times, so I will do so again here. Say you like that philosophy and those ideas, well, you do not have to dress up in uniforms or use the same terminology. You do not even need to tell where, who, or when the concept or idea you are “selling” comes from.

Another example, if you do not like certain things about the US or its Constitution, you DO NOT have to say, “That fuckin’ Constitution…” and things like making it plain that you don’t like certain historical figures. You do not have to rung down America in general.

In short, stop with the limiting yourself to either you like A), Thomas Jefferson, or B) Mein Kampf type pigeon holing into two or three multiple choices. You don’t have to tattoo a swastika on your forehead if there is something about American History and culture you don’t like. And if there is something you like about, e.g., 1930s Italy, that does not mean that you have to swallow the whole hog of Fascism, or be accused of going whole hog. There might even be something to be found in Karl Marx that you like or think is instructive, but that doesn’t mean you should be thought of as a Marxist. But I’ll be damned if all that is not what it seems like, listening to so many people.

The people have an all or nothing mentality and so does the audience in judging. “OMG! He just suggested an idea that Hitler had! You can’t talk about that without forsaking your grandpa who fought in the war. And we would have to shoot Seig Hail salutes the whole time we where giving that speech if we wanted people to take up that idea, anyway!” “Is it easier to get people liking A), Ho Chi Ming or B), George Washington?” I mean, there just ain’t nothing but them two choices.

    YES, there is!

That is what I am talking about when I say “one dimensional” and not being able to think “outside the box.” This is what the ball game fans all do. If they hear you complain about Obama, then you must be a McCain voter or Sarah Palin fan. There just aint but those two choices, is there?

I’ll go ahead and be explicit with something else while I’m at it, since you asked. Many of you need some serious social skills education. THAT is the main problem with this movement, and not what philosophy people may subscribe to. It appears that a high percentage of men in the movement don’t know anything at all about how to interact with human beings, white or any other kind. This is why so many of their visions of what a future country should look like, why so many of their ideas about what to say, act like, or go about getting a woman, or getting another human being interested in your views, are ridiculous. There are convicted murderers who have more social finesses.

It is no wonder that just under the surface of many people’s threads and posts is the frustration of not finding a girlfriend, and why having children is an overwhelming worry. And I for one think that THAT is THE motivation for these people being drawn to this movement in the first place. It is not concern for the white race or our civilization, but rather of having a convenient outlet for venting and finding scapegoats for lack of success with women in particular and other human beings in general. They think this movement, and some of us, will be the vehicle that will finally be able to overthrow “The System” and all these “pop culture” Jewish machination and Negro things that are preventing them from being liked, and that we will return the world to some distant past, where, they beleive, things were so much better for people like them before you had to be smooth and sophisticated.

Now, I am willing to talk about more mundane things that might help someone with all of the above and more. I think we need that a hell of a lot more than debate about philosophies.

  17. Hunter: “When the White Nationalist movement finally perfects its worldview, presumably after another ten or twenty years of discussing ideas, will the people who refuse to stand up for their beliefs in the real world finally do so?”

It needn’t take ten or twenty years to develop our vision. We can have it much, much sooner than that. In fact, it is critical that we do so.

It has only been fairly recently that a rough consensus has developed on the need for the ethnostate. I say rough consensus, because we still don’t agree on any of the particulars, and we certainly haven’t created a compelling vision that engenders a revolutionary spirit.

It’s all about creating the elusive “it.” Real revolutionary movement’s have it. Right now, we don’t. It’s our job to change that.

Once you have the “it,” people will start getting involved. They’ll be willing to make sacrifices, take risks. But until we have that, professional types – the types who are critical from an organizational standpoint – are not going to get fired from their jobs and reduced to charity (which by and large, we aren’t even developed enough as a movement to provide much of) when they can’t see that their sacrifice will accomplish anything.

In another post, Greg mentioned that the average age of white nationalists is quite high. I suppose he’d know better than me, but I’m not sure that he is right about that. To the contrary, most posters on white nationalist boards seem to be fairly young. In the real world, just in the course of normal life, I’ve met quite a few white nationalists and/or strong sympathizers. They are all youngish, Gen X or Y. Older racialists are almost invariably conservatives, and tend not to think in terms of the radical solutions required. My conclusion is that ours is very much a movement that skews young, with conservative racialists skewing old.

So why the impression, which I believe to be very much mistaken, that the average age of WN is high? I suspect it’s because older types, especially people who are retired or financially secure, can afford to show their faces in the real world. They aren’t worried about their careers being destroyed, or being fired. But the younger professional set, which is where the real radicalism is, the fire and brimstone? They despise our lords and masters with an intense passion, but they aren’t getting fired over nothing. They have responsibilities, they often have mouths to feed, student loans, etc.

That’s why it is so important to support those young white nationalists who do come out in the real world, and compromise their careers in the process. It’s a real sacrifice, no doubt about it. But really, how many can the movement “afford” right now? Unfortunately, not all that many. That’s just the sad reality of the situation – for now. This will change in the coming years.

I’ve said before that once things start moving, they will move extremely fast. There is a tremendous supply of people out there who are, effectively, muzzled. When we get that elusive “it,” that real revolutionary spirit, I’m convinced they will come out of the woodwork in a big way. Not to put too fine a point on it, but it could be a fucking tidal wave. The System has repressed us for so long, god only knows how many people are out there in the woodwork.

But right now, why should they? Again, we can’t even agree on most basic goals, much less a strategy, even less a compelling revolutionary vision. Who wants to get fired without achieving a single positive result?

The long and the short of it is that the most influential people in white nationalism need to spend less time bitching about people, and more time creating a compelling vision. The fault doesn’t lie in the young professional who has decided not to have his life ruined for no useful purpose, but in the failure of white nationalism to do its job.

  18. Brutus: “I see victory all around us. The shortcomings of nonwhites is openly talked about, etc., etc.”

I would phrase it as “I see potential all around us.” As bad as things are, there is a great deal of potential out there. There are still healthy instincts in large numbers of our people. But as long as the current system is in power, they will lose. It’s guaranteed, baked into the cake.

Part of our job is making them understand this, and to further understand that the only solution is in having our own land and controlling our own destiny. Only then can our people have these things that they clearly want. There is no other way. With the recent talk of secession, our job should be getting easier and easier. The legitimacy of the system that oppresses us weakens by the day. This should be incredibly sweet sauce for the revolutionary movement…but we’d rather bitch instead. That’s gotta change. I believe it will.

  19. Trainspotter,

I think you have hit the nail on the head. In the end, it all boils down to money: there are plenty of White Nationalists who completely understand our dire predicament, the causes of our decline, and what the solution to our decline should look like.

We can inform these people. We can educate them. We can convince them that our cause is just and that we are right. What has proven almost impossible to do is to motivate them to change their circumstances by taking action in the real world.

    What is holding them back?

It is the overwhelming desire for a middle class lifestyle. When you boil it down, these people are White Nationalists, but that is less important in their hierarchy of values than living a comfortable life, one in which they can safely engage in rhetorical radicalism without incurring any of the costs that can with being labeled as an advocate of such a position.

Compare White Nationalists to our previous generations of Americans. Think of the soldiers who stormed the beaches of France, or the Continental soldiers who marched into rifle and cannon fire, who faced death itself, not the inconvenience of being unable to live in the suburb or their choosing.

The sad reality of the situation is that lack of character, not a lack of ideas or a compelling vision, is why so many White Nationalists fail to stand up for what they believe.

It also raises questions for those who do so: why are they making these sacrifices? If action is necessary to solve our problem and rhetorical radicals refuse to engage in action, why does anyone else bother when defeat is a foregone conclusion?

  20. Hunter: “In the end, it all boils down to money: there are plenty of White Nationalists who completely understand our dire predicament, the causes of our decline, and what the solution to our decline should look like….What is holding them back?”

As I explained above, many of the sorts of people that we need are in vulnerable positions. Ours is a repressed movement, targeted by the System. Most people aren’t eager to have their lives destroyed and find themselves unable to meet their personal responsibilities, when doing so would accomplish nothing at the present time. Until real revolutionary momentum is created, until that elusive “it” is in place, their decision is not unreasonable. Many people will sacrifice for a movement with momentum. Few will sacrifice for a movement without it. It’s always been this way, and it is the classic revolutionary quandry: how to create that momentum in the first place? I’ve spent a lot of time answering this above.

Ultimately, it’s on us. White nationalists have not bothered to create a compelling vision and powerful worldview. We only recently developed a rough consensus on the ethnostate, but we don’t agree on where it should be, how to get it, what tactics to use, what it will look like. I mean, come on. You expect people to sign on in great numbers to a movement that doesn’t remotely have clear goals or a compelling vision? Sign on to do what, exactly? Anything worth getting fired over?

We simply must do the groundwork, there is no other way around it. This doesn’t require ten or twenty years, either. We can put this thing together fairly quickly, I think. The bits and pieces are mostly laying around, much of the hard work has already been done. We just need to pull it together. You were on to something with the Odessa Syndicate, and it amazes me that you have forgotten this.

Hunter: “It is the overwhelming desire for a middle class lifestyle. When you boil it down, these people are White Nationalists, but that is less important in their hierarchy of values than living a comfortable life, one in which they can safely engage in rhetorical radicalism without incurring any of the costs that can with being labeled as an advocate of such a position.”

This is only part of it. Again, Hunter, ALL revolutions face this problem. It’s damn near universal. As to our particular situation, how is somebody getting themselves fired helping our cause right now? What exactly would he accomplish? I’ll answer: not much. When white nationalism builds a proper intellectual foundation, spreads those ideas as far as it can, and shapes them into a real revolutionary spirit, then more people will sacrifice. That’s the job at hand. It need only take a few years to accomplish this, if we get a move on.

Hunter: “Compare White Nationalists to our previous generations of Americans. Think of the soldiers who stormed the beaches of France, or the Continental soldiers who marched into rifle and cannon fire, who faced death itself, not the inconvenience of being unable to live in the suburb or their choosing.”

Those previous generations did some pretty amazing things – when the time was right. Which is to say when a particular movement had developed momentum. Not before. The average Southern man wasn’t storming Yankee lines in 1856 or 1857, though he would do so most heroically just a few years later. There is a reason for this.

Hunter: “The sad reality of the situation is that lack of character, not a lack of ideas or a compelling vision, is why so many White Nationalists fail to stand up for what they believe.”

No, that’s not it, or at least not most of it. You wish that white nationalism was exempt from the rules that govern revolutionary movements and repressed viewpoints. It’s not. I understand that it is frustrating, but it’s nothing to despair over. History shows us what must be done, and we’re more than capable of doing it. But that’s just it, we’ve got to do it. We’ve got to complete the stage that we’re at, rather than try to skip ahead (it won’t work) because we don’t want to put in the effort.

Hunter: “It also raises questions for those who do so: why are they making these sacrifices? If action is necessary to solve our problem and rhetorical radicals refuse to engage in action, why does anyone else bother when defeat is a foregone conclusion?”

Defeat isn’t a foregone conclusion, not at all. Hunter, you’re a history guy. I suggest you spend more time studying revolutionary movements. I think you’ll find that you don’t get to skip stages. We are at a particular stage. Until we do the necessary intellectual and spiritual work, we’ll remain stuck at this stage.

The truth is that things are moving along, and not too badly. We’ve got the real chance now to develop a powerful, compelling vision. A synthesis that can challenge the established orthodoxy. We have the means to spread that vision to significant numbers of people. We already have large numbers of people out in the woodwork sympathetic to our cause. Fate seems to be cooperating in certain ways, as the System which represses us bleeds legitimacy. Also, the much maligned internet offers us a superb medium to cheaply spread our message.

To say that defeat is a foregone conclusion is absolutely ridiculous. Whether we win or lose is, in large measure, up to us. But wishing we were 16 and could get a driver’s license, when in fact we are only 13, doesn’t help much. I suppose it’s natural, but it doesn’t change reality. I’m damn sorry that the movement isn’t as far along as you (or I) would like, but there it is. We are where we are.

I for one am optimistic, and am confident that we are going to win this thing. I believe that our vision will be developed fairly soon, and a floundering System will provide our opening. There is potential everywhere. Our situation doesn’t call for defeatism and despair, but rather for a cold and rational take on where we are, and where we go from here. Cheer up.

  21. I’ll throw in a concrete, albeit fairly modest, example of momentum at work.

For many years the modern libertarian movement toiled in obscurity. The Libertarian Party in particular rarely had more than two dimes to rub together. When Ron Paul ran as a Libertarian back in 1988, he only managed to raise a paltry sum. Yet in 2008? He was raising many tens of millions of dollars. He raised more in a day (with apparently little or no real effort on his part) than he had been able to raise in all of 1988. He raised more in a day than the Libertarian Party as a whole could raise in years.

So what happened? Easy: momentum. When you’ve got momentum, people start coming out of the woodwork. Everybody sees value, everybody wants to chip in. People who had not been involved in decades show up to do their bit.

Without momentum, things get awful lonely. But does that mean that the lean years are wasted? Of course not. The lean years were absolutely necessary in order to create the momentum that followed. People had to be educated, the ideas had to be spread. Many people that were educated along the way disappeared into the woodwork (only to come out again later). All movements suffer attrition, but they are also building a reserve that can come alive when the circumstances are right. Without the thankless work of the lean years, the momentum that followed would have been impossible.

Now, our situation is very different from that of the libertarians. Talk about a hopeless cause, THEIR cause is truly hopeless. They can’t even deal with the obvious reality that non-whites aren’t supporting their program, and since the country is filling up with non-whites…well, do the math. Their fate will not be our fate. I use them as an example only insofar as their experience reveals a broader rule.

The take away is that movements operate in stages. The lean years are absolutely crucial to eventual success. Those lean years are spent educating, spreading ideas, and creating a compelling vision. If the movement uses those years wisely, real momentum can be achieved down the road. In the white nationalist case, I expect the surge in momentum to be even more breathtaking, given that we are a suppressed viewpoint. When the dam breaks…

  22. “The sad reality of the situation is that lack of character…”

I think the problem is not lack of character, but people’s natural conformism, added to Jewish control of the media. From what I’ve read on dissident websites, we tend to unconsciously treat TV and government propaganda in the same way as peer pressure.

The loss of comfort endured as the price of speaking up for the Whites is not always very high. It’s not what keeps people from taking action. Many men would still give their lives for their nation. But there is a problem of moral and social isolation due to the media control. Conformism is in our genes. Even if you are surrounded by fellow nationalists and intellectually convinced that you are right, it would be much easier to take action if you knew you had the warm support of a few million men. Conversely, if you own the media and the schools, it is easy to enlist young men into useless wars.

Sometimes, doing activist work takes more courage and determination than enlisting in the army with the full support and social approval of everyone you know.

  23. Armor: “The loss of comfort endured as the price of speaking up for the Whites is not always very high. It’s not what keeps people from taking action.”

True, the cost is not necessarily high for everyone. Unfortunately, it is high for many members of the professional, credentialed classes. Many of them would in fact be fired, no ifs, ands or buts. It’s not even a risk, it’s a certainty. A viable movement is going to have to draw heavily from this class, as they are vital from an organizational point of view. All classes of whites are important, but any movement is at a severe disadvantage if it can’t draw heavily from the upper middle class.

As just one example among many, the Matt Hale case taught every white nationalist law student in the land that he better shut the hell up. There are plenty of WN law students out there, and pretty much none will go public at the present time. Doing so would accomplish nothing other than making it likely that they won’t be licensed to practice law. That’s the problem with going public for this sort of person: all they accomplish is to provide a juicy target for the anti-whites to demolish.

Don’t even get me started on academia. It should be obvious that a public WN isn’t getting tenure, not anywhere in the land. So right there, the System has forced our best WN students to refrain from public advocacy. That’s a big chunk of potential leaders and activists, muzzled (for the time being). The important point is that they ARE THERE. Their time will come, and probably sooner than most think.

Armor: “Conformism is in our genes. Even if you are surrounded by fellow nationalists and intellectually convinced that you are right, it would be much easier to take action if you knew you had the warm support of a few million men. Conversely, if you own the media and the schools, it is easy to enlist young men into useless wars.”

Very, very true. That’s why I say that until you have created the elusive “it,” whether we call it a revolutionary spirit or just plain momentum, most people won’t sacrifice. However, once that momentum is established, watch out. People will pour out of the woodwork, everyone eager to jump on board. The lean years weren’t for naught, they spread the ideas.

So the real question is, what does it take to create the momentum which will harness conformism as an asset, instead of its current liability? Part of that, a necessary and indispensable part, involves creating the intellectual foundation, spreading the ideas as far as possible, and shaping our aspirations into a compelling vision. Then add the right leader/leaders and the right circumstances, and you’ve got something. The right circumstances are heading our way, as Fate gives us another bite at the apple. The rest is up to us. We CAN do this.

  24. Armor: “Sometimes, doing activist work takes more courage and determination than enlisting in the army with the full support and social approval of everyone you know.”

Definitely. Those who go public early and make the sacrifice deserve our support, financial and otherwise. They are truly heroes.

All the same: There should be more to life than being smooth and sophisticated.

  26. “All the same: There should be more to life than being smooth and sophisticated.”

And you and many others need to stop clutching at any and every excuse to avoid taking some positive action for once. Also, “smooth and sophisticated” were just the first two words that occured to me to describe a condition. I didn’t take an hour and ten pages to come up with something that you may like better, so you jumped at that straw to put up a fuss instead of taking some advice. I’m not the one on all these sites complaining about being without a mate and childless, it is the ones who jump at every excuse who fill those shoes.

Moreover, this “should be” thing is another cop out. A lot of things “should” and “ought” to be, but here in this universe, they are not.

  27. Action is what will change things.

But the wrong kind of action can paralyze them. Navel-gazing (as J. Marr mentions) from the foreign East, can serve no useful purpose for White, European Christendom men.

As a point of information, I know of a traditionalist Anglican group that every year, re-enacts the coming ashore of the first Christian permanent colony at Jamestown. They march up from the waters to the old, ruined church on the grounds, and hold a Eucharist service from the traditional Book of Common Prayer.

For those who are Christian, this is the supreme act of reclaiming (By covenant) that which is consecrated to YHWH God, Jesus Christ, and His People [Matt. 1:21]. These folk have been doing it for years. I, myself would like to go to the headwaters of the Mississippi, and consecrate the Great River to the God of the White Man, in much the same way, but my bishop has not seen the ‘logic’ of it.

Yet every action the historic Church did, in conquering all of Europe to her self, before Rome raised her ugly head in the 1100’s, was to consecrate the land to Christ’s KINSMAN.

A small gesture, you may say. And, if you do, you don’t know jack.
The time for retaking and reclaiming, and reconsecrating our land for our use, by our people, has come again.

    Deo Volente.

[If war, and guns come after, so be it. You folks need to read about Cornelius Codreneau and the Iron Legionaires, if you are Christian, and how he decimated the Jews when he was alive. All of his books, manuals, and instructions for his paramilitary ‘holy warriors’ are all available. I’m reading them right now- most informative.]
