I’ve taken a break from the midterms to argue with Groypers about Roman history.
Fuentes has argued that the Germans would be “absolutely nothing” without Rome. What happened to Rome though? Did Roman civilization spread across Europe or did Rome itself collapse?
It always was Rome. As Belloc wrote, the Dark Ages were just a pause. The Roman religion, the Catholic Faith, still slowly was converting the barbarian North, while absorbing the Teutons’ youthful vigor. The new flowering began with the Carolingian Renaissance, after the Scandinavians were mostly converted, especially the Normans in France, their raids ended, and the great Crusades began. That’s why this is written in the Roman alphabet. Greco-Roman antiquity was preserved through monks, especially the Benedictines, who gradually built a new civilization, ours.

Roman civilization spread throughout Europe. Modern Law is influenced by Roman. Their roads the best in Europe while standing until the German autobahns.
The Romans collapsed due to over reliance on German armies more than the native troops.
The Eastern Romans survived another 1000 years. A popular revolt and massacre of German mercenaries in the early 5th century meant no over reliance on Germans instead of native Romans in their army.

Romans were nothing but poor fishermen living on the banks of the Tiber, ruled by the Etruscans.
He doesn’t take into account the very harsh and poor climate of Northern Europe, contrasted against the lush and mild climate of the Mediterranean.
People should try learning some of this history.

Rome collapsed in the third century because its plunder driven state ran out of victims, and only “recovered” under Diocletian through permanent martial law. Within a century they were overwhelmed by Germans and Huns. Justinian’s disastrous war against the Ostrogoths left Byzantium poorly equipped to defend its Egyptian territory against the Muslims, and that was the end.

Point of fact, where was us in 5th century b c? We was plundering Rome again. Yes, we repeatedly okay plundered Rome before the Roman Empire. Later we plundered it afterwards too. But that was because they betrayed us for helping them out after they degenerated so much and needed honorable warriors like us to fill their ranks.
Before that though, the Celts and Germans repeatedly defeated the Mediterranean peoples in the classical age and dominated or completed with them, especially the Greeks over trade. We had our cities and castles too. Liguria in northwest Italy was a Italo-Celtic nation which had castles straight out of the middle ages and whose DNA is remarkably similar to Atlantic coast French and English today but in the 300s BC.
This was just there either. In fact one of the oldest cities in all of Europe isn’t in the Mediterranean at all. Its present day Edinburgh Scotland. Caer Eidyn as it was known was built before Rome and was made of stone and had high streets and the ancient acropopylse which is now the medieval royal castle. Our hilltop and mountain cities in Gaul still astound archeologists with the depth of their material culture when the Romans were living in huts and the Greeks couldn’t even write.
As to Italians putting back themselves back into the saddle again, the fact is these were elite Italians, who at the time, were almost entirely of German descent. Granted they had intermarried among high Italians but those had been partially Germanized as well. There were hardly any true Roman Italians left except in the peasantry and primarily in northern Italy. Interestingly, they looked almost as Nordic as the Italo-German aristocracy.
If one takes a look at Rennasance paintings of Italians, particularly it’s aristocracy, the prominence of high Whiteness is evident in the facial features, coloring, and blonde hair. Over time this became less and less proportional among Italians. But Nordic and High Roman Continental features of white skin, blue and green eyes, and fair to blonde hair still represent 25% of the Italian population. Not everyone Italian is part Mixed blood Mestizo like Nick Fuentes.

Why should Fuentes pit German vs Latin? The Romans and the Germanic tribe Visigoths allied and together beat the Hunnic invaders at Chalons 451 A.D. The Roman infantry held and the Germanic cavalry charged and broke the Huns. This battle is considered one of the most important battles in history by many.
A brutal, bloody stalemate and tactical victory for the coalition. Visigothic King Theodoric I was killed in battle, but his son Thorismund and Aetius repelled the Huns, forcing Attila to retreat into a fortified wagon camp.
By the Fifth Century, Rome itself, Italy, and Western Rurope were economic and cultural backwaters. (Maybe they always were.) The center of everything, politics, economics, population, culture, military power, the Christian Church (Orthodox-Catholic) was Constantinople. That center endured until 1453, a thousand years after the “Fall of Rome.” That the city of Rome was a wasteland is in some sense irrelevant. Western culture was in Byzantine. Today, what is left of European culture is in Moscow.
